Class Descriptions:
Art Around World
Art Around the World is taking off for another journey around the world! Each week we will focus on one country, discuss its culture, and complete a project associated with the location and its peoples. Stops this semester include Brazil, Italy, and Japan among others! As a part of this class, students will receive a small pouch of basic supplies to be used in the class as well as a passport that we will stamp with each stop we make along our artistic journey. This class is taught by Ms. Keesee, Sope Creek ES's art teacher and is recommend for grades 2-5. Each meeting focuses on a new project and can move quickly!
Art Smart
Does your child love art or want to improve their art skills? The purpose of Art Smart is to provide your student an opportunity to explore art through directed drawing and different art mediums. Art Smart helps to develop motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and has a large impact on their social and emotional growth. It also enhances their creativity and love of art! Weekly artwork will be taken home each week. Each participant will receive an Art Smart bag of supplies.
Brick Builders
Does your child enjoy building with Legos? In Brick Builders they will have fun participating in minute to win it challenges and other lessons using Legos. Some benefits from children working with Legos are problem solving skills, learning how to plan, teamwork, as well as spatial awareness. Your child can work on all these skills and many others while having fun and being creative.
Canvas Kids and Cookies
Join us for all NEW paintings in this Spring FAST class! The focus for this class will be painting canvases where every child will feel inspired to use their own creativity. We will learn painting techniques, color palettes, and the principal of design. Each child will produce five colorful canvas paintings they can proudly display at home! During each class, students will be provided a sweet treat and enjoy socializing with friends. Join us for Canvas Kids and Cookies to take chances, make new friends, and get messy! 😊
Cardio Sharp/Cardio Sharp Jr.
Physically fit students perform better academically, behave better at school and home, and are simply more comfortable in their own skin. While we know the roles diet, homework, and sleep play in ‘powering up’ a student’s ‘network’ for the classroom, the last 20 years of scientific research has revealed a new, major player in the ‘ready‐to‐learn’ domain – cardiovascular fitness. Cardio Sharp is driven by this relationship between enthusiastic, vigorous play and cognitive and behavioral development. Modified games, sports, and challenges equip students with exciting, efficient tools for realizing the promises of cardiovascular conditioning. Happy, comfortable kids with better grades – that’s our business, that’s our mission. Cost includes T-shirt, hat, and water bottle!
Coding with Robots
Students will code robots using a stacking coding. We will work together to figure out which sequence of coding will make our robot follow our commands.
Creations Stitch by Stitch
Unlock the art of sewing in this hands-on, creative after-school class! Sewing & Creativity introduces students to the fundamentals of sewing, from learning how to thread a needle to creating their own unique projects, including sports logos, cute animals, emojis, almost anything! Whether they’re making simple accessories, designing patterns to make, or experimenting with fabric art, students will gain valuable skills in a fun and supportive environment. This class emphasizes patience, precision, and creativity, empowering young designer boys and girls, to bring their ideas to life one stitch at a time.
DIY Club
Ready to roll up your sleeves and make something awesome? Join the DIY Club, where you’ll use simple materials to build cool projects you can use every day! Whether it’s making your own bird feeder, crafting a pencil holder, building a cardboard fort, or designing a unique picture frame, there’s always something fun to create. Every week, you'll work on different projects that challenge your creativity and problem-solving skills, all while having a blast with friends. If you love building, inventing, and crafting, then the DIY Club is the perfect place for you!
It’s Magic!
Magician’s secrets revealed! In this class students will explore the world of illusion firsthand. Each week children will learn new magic and take home a trick to amaze their family and friends. Students will learn that the secrets behind each trick are really just math, science, and engineering! Performing magic tricks will improve critical reasoning skills, build confidence, and encourage STEM awareness.
Jedi Academy
Jedi Academy is a hugely popular, fun, and fast-paced class. Join now to take part in your training as a young Padawan. As your Jedi Master, I will train you in the art of the Force. You will program and engineer Jedi related projects, create your own light saber, utilize 3-D printing with Computer-aided Design (CAD) to create a droid, train in the physical aspects of being a Jedi, and much more. Students will be encouraged to continue projects week to week. Jedi Academy will be innovative, creative, and fun. Do you have what it takes to become a Jedi Master?
Jewelry & Keychain Making
Students will work together to create different pieces of jewelry or keychains using different types of beads and string. There will also be charms, shrinky dinks, and rainbow looms for you to create with. You can make as many as you'd like each class.
Karate Kids
Through the Karate Kids program, your child will learn the basics of traditional Karate including punches, kicks, blocks, self-defense, cardio training and forms. This program is sure to enhance your students level of focus, discipline, respect and self-confidence. We will also focus on topics such as anti-bullying, building self-esteem, creating a positive mindset, and becoming a lifelong learner. Ms. Smith is a third degree black belt, a World Champion competitor in traditional forms and fighting and has over 25 years experience training in martial arts and teaching children. She has competed in Switzerland, Canada, and across the US in karate tournaments. For a fun afternoon of karate training join Karate Kids today! Karate Kids classes vary from semester to semester. If your student has been enrolled previously, they will continue their training as well as learn new techniques! We will be studying Japanese, Yoshukai Karate. All students should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers for class. Be sure to sign up quickly so you don’t miss out!
Keyology
Why learn how to play piano? Playing piano improves cognitive development, academic skills and coordination, language skills and literacy. Playing piano is a major stress reducer and makes a big impact on one's health. This course will concentrate on developing student musicality while developing social skills at the same time. As students learn from each other they develop confidence about performing in front of others. They stimulate each other's practice. Students will learn how to read notes, play simple songs, write and create music in connection with music concepts, theory and history of music. *Each student will be provided with an individual keyboard and headphones. Repertoire and Instructions are differentiated based on student performance level and ability. About teacher: Mrs. Eristavi completed a master's in music education and is proficient in piano and accordion.
Let’s Learn about Brazil!
Let's learn about Brazil. Learning beyond more than just numbers and words in Portuguese (Brazilian language). Come to enjoy the music, history, art and culture of Brazil. We will have dances and rhythms, like samba in our Carnival, MPB (musica popular brasileira) We will also learn about delicious Brazilian food. Vamos nos divertir! (Let's have fun!)
Magical Muggles
Calling all Harry Potter fans! Are you waiting for your Hogwarts letter? Are you curious about the Wizarding World? Do you want to know what Hogwarts House you belong to? In this class, your child will enjoy learning all about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We will create enchanting crafts, play magical games, enjoy some whimsical
treats and so much more! Students will learn about the many themes of Harry Potter, including leadership, courage, and empathy. Whether you have just read the books or only seen the movies, all are welcome - Muggles too! Send your owl now to sign up for Magical Muggles!
Pickleball Remix
What do you get when you mix Pickleball and Bouncy Balls? PICKLEBALL REMIX! This class will be a spin off from our previous ‘All Star Pickleball’ class. We will continue to learn all the basics of Pickleball, rules, play of the game, and scoring. In addition, we will incorporate bouncy ball games, such as kickball and 4-Square to emphasis hand-eye coordination, which is key to all sports. This class will provide active drills mixed with friendly competitions. Students will be split by grade levels to play with friends in their age group, so everyone will be actively involved. Pokemon Players
Gotta catch em' all! The Pokémon Players are back to explore and create with our favorite characters! Each week we will focus on a new craft, project, or game such as painting our own Poke Balls, creating new/mixed-up Pokémon, or friendly card tournaments. You do not need any cards or experience to join, just have fun being creative with fellow fans!
Scene Stealers
Do you have a flair for the dramatic? Do you like to act? Then join the Scene Stealers! Each week, you will develop skills in acting and improvisation. Let your creativity soar as you use your imagination to react and respond to your scene partners. Not only will you learn how to think on your feet, you will also hone your critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. You'll end up in stitches as you watch fellow comedians act it out, so come break a leg and discover what characters you can pretend to be!
Soccer Stars
Soccer Stars is the perfect place for your aspiring soccer player! This beginning level club will focus on all the basics. Dribbling, shooting, trapping, scrimmage games, athletic conditioning and more! Soccer enhances focus, aerobic capacity, team work and cardiovascular health. I am so excited to share this time with your students! Students should wear athletic clothing and closed toed sneakers on class days. Students are invited to bring their own soccer ball on Mondays, which they can leave with Ms. Smith for the semester and then have returned at the end of the course; or students can bring each Monday. Learn a new sport all while enhancing fitness and having fun! If you already play soccer or have participated in the past; join the fun for some extra practice! Be sure to sign up early so you don’t miss out!
STEM Sports
STEM Sports integrates the changing dynamics of seasonal sports with foundational STEM principles. Each season brings a variety of opportunities to incorporate science and technology with sports. For example, this club will explore how and why a baseball curves when thrown, understanding how controlled dribbling can increase your skills, how to use physics to improve your game, and much more. This will be a fun engaging club that integrates numerous STEAM skills in one course. STEM Sports will be fun and fast-paced just like the sports you love. Join us for both outdoor and indoor play.
Super Science Studio
Come join us for an exciting exploration into the world of STEAM! We will dive into science concepts through experimentation and creativity! Each week the students will investigate different science themes through art projects, science experiments and a themed snack. Be ready for hands on, messy fun as we expand our knowledge of the world around us! We can’t wait to learn with you!

Typing Club
It's time to make your student a Typing Pro! Did you know end-of-year state testing in Georgia in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade is on the computer? And students in all grade levels are required to type multiple full essay-type constructed responses? Don’t let typing get in their way! With our Sope Creek students having their own computers, typing basics are a must. Sign up for this class to enjoy an interactive experience full of games, videos, and different typing challenges make to make learning fun. Students will work independently so they can move at their own pace. The program saves their progress from week to week (or day to day if you sign up for both sessions!). They will learn home row keys and correct hand placement. They will even have hand blockers so they are unable to see their fingers to really increase fluency. Students can even use their premium username to sign in at home! They will join the “club” to compete against classmates and reach their own goals. There will be independent typing time, games, and certificates handed out at the end.
Weaving 101
Weaving 101 will introduce your child to the world of weaving. Each week they will work on a weaving project. Weaving has so many benefits for children. It helps with eye hand coordination, fine motor skills and is very relaxing and reduces stress. In addition to these, your child will get to use their creativity to plan their weaving piece.
